Buddy Rich Up Close™ – FREE PREVIEW

In 1982, Buddy Rich filmed three shows over three days at the Statler Hotel in New York. They were never aired – in fact, never edited. This Masterpiece is in pristine condition and will be released on Drum Channel as The Buddy Rich Show – coming soon. In this preview, Don Lombardi discusses the event, Buddy Rich Up Close™, a special edit of The Buddy Rich Show. You get the whole preview of Love For Sale. The full DVD spotlights six songs – Love For Sale, Bugle Call Rag, West Side Story, Birdland, Greensleeves, and Dancing Men – with as many cameras as possible focusing on Buddy and his incredible drumming technique. Using Drum Channel’s player and five player-switches, you can view the show’s main edit as well as watch it with three different versions of audio – drums hot, band hot, and bass drum hot – AND on switch 5 you can watch it in slow motion! Please note: these switches are not available on this YouTube preview. The DVD is available here: www. drumchannel. com

Bare in mind that the dude was 65 years old at the time of this recording. After about 15 years of listening to drummers, present and past, I’ve come to the conclusion that this dude will never be surpassed.

In the year 2925, 300 years after mankind has destroyed itself, super intelligent aliens will land on this planet and find Buddy Rich albums scattered over the planet’s surface, and they will be taken to their home planet as the most prized relics. They will use it in their music schools.

Ambidextrous genius of jazz, with all the fine subtleties from years of expressing the sound; set him apart. Man, oh man, that left hand!!!

Don – Once again you have been able to create a great product, but now through video. This video is absolutely the best I have seen in 48 yrs. of drumming and presenting clinics. Congrat’s to you and your staff, and thanks to Buddy for his years of music enchantment!
